The Harding blanket has been part of the Pendleton line since 1923 — the year President Warren G. Harding and First Lady Florence Harding visited Oregon’s Blue Mountain country to dedicate a stretch of the Old Oregon Trail.

To mark the occasion, Chief Cap Sumkins of the Cayuse and Chief Poker Jim of the Umatilla commissioned Pendleton to weave a robe for the First Lady: a fringed shawl in white, tan, yellow, and red, its pattern adapted from the Chief Joseph design to reflect the sincere and forthright nature the tribes so admired in her.

Body of duster is made from Pendleton's Harding Oxford Blanket. Napped Pendleton blankets: 82% Wool, 18% Cotton and Wool Cashmere facings
