The Harding blanket has been part of the Pendleton line since 1923 — the year President Warren G. Harding and First Lady Florence Harding visited Oregon’s Blue Mountain country to dedicate a stretch of the Old Oregon Trail.

To mark the occasion, Chief Cap Sumkins of the Cayuse and Chief Poker Jim of the Umatilla commissioned Pendleton to weave a robe for the First Lady: a fringed shawl in white, tan, yellow, and red, its pattern adapted from the Chief Joseph design to reflect the sincere and forthright nature the tribes so admired in her.

Mid-length unlined Robe with waist tie belt with loops and lined patch pockets.

Napped Pendleton blankets: 82% Wool, 18% Cotton and Wool Cashmere facings.
